HANFORD, CA – A woman was killed in a wrong-way collision in Hanford on Saturday, Your Central Valley News reports.
The accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of 14th Avenue and Iona Avenue.
A northbound Chevy Silverado suddenly swerved into the southbound lanes and struck a Chevy Trailblazer. A 61-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Trailblazer was killed in the crash.
The 61-year-old driver of the Trailblazer sustained major injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The 31-year-old man driving the Silverado attempted to flee the scene but was later arrested. He is suspected of driving under the influence and is facing hit- and-run and felony DUI charges.
