Narrative
RIVERSIDE CO., CA – Police are investigating a fiery three-vehicle crash that killed six people and injured two others on Monday near Moreno Valley.
The accident happened around 2:22 p.m. at the intersection of Gilman Springs Road and Bridge Street, which is southeast of Eden and northwest of OK-79.
It’s not yet clear what caused the multi-vehicle collision. Authorities say that all three vehicles caught fire and that the fire soon spread to the grass area along the roadway.
Four people died at the scene, while another four went to the hospital with various injuries. Two of the hospitalized patients later died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the names of the victims.
Officials closed Gilman Springs Road in the area of the crash for at least two hours while emergency teams worked to douse the fire and clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
