One killed in south Bakersfield crash

BAKERSFIELD, CA – One person was killed in south Bakersfield after crashing into a tree on Thursday morning, KGET reports. 

The accident occurred near the intersection of Union Avenue and Mckee Road around 6 a.m.

The victim, a Bakersfield resident, was driving north at an unsafe speed when he lost control of his vehicle and left the road. He then struck a tree and a power pole. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

A passenger in the vehicle was taken to Kern Medical with moderate injuries. He has been identifed as an 18-year-old man from Bakersfield.
