WHISKEYTOWN, CA – One person was killed and another was injured following an accident between a pickup truck and a big-rig in Whiskeytown.
According to KRCR, the accident occurred around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday morning on eastbound Highway 299 near Whiskey Creek Road. A 57-year-old man was driving a Ford F-150 when a semi-truck driven by a 29-year-old man crossed the double yellow line and caused a head-on collision.
The semi-truck then burst into flames in the collision. The female passenger in the F-150 died in the crash and the driver sustained major injuries and was rushed to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. It is not clear what caused the truck to enter oncoming traffic.
