Man killed in Perris after being hit by pickup truck

PERRIS, CA – A man was killed Wednesday evening in Perris after being struck by a truck on Highway 74, local news reports. 

The accident occurred in the northbound lanes around 6:40 p.m. The victim was attempting to walk south in the northbound lanes of the highway.

The truck driver did see the man and attempted to brake but was unable to avoid a collision. The 35-year-old pedestrian was killed at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. It is not clear why the man was walking on the highway.
