Narrative
BAKERSFIELD, CA – One person sustained fatal injuries, and another was hurt in a solo crash along the highway in Bakersfield Sunday.
The accident happened around 6:47 a.m. on the southbound side of Highway 99 just south of California Avenue, which is just east of West Park Community and southeast of the Kern River.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the 50-year-old driver of a 2019 Nissan left the roadway and struck both a streetlight and a tree.
Medics transported both occupants of the vehicle to the hospital where the male passenger died from his injuries.
The driver sustained serious injuries.
