Narrative
CALEXICO, CA – A man was jaywalking across Imperial Avenue and was struck by a vehicle Saturday, leading the pedestrian to succumb to fatal injuries.
This collision happened just before 4:30 p.m. Calexico Police told KYMA that the driver was going around 55 mph and stopped when he heard a sound. Upon getting out of the vehicle, the driver realized he struck the man.
The driver called 911 and remained at the scene. Police arrived at the crash and declared the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Police said the driver cooperated with investigators and did not exhibit any signs of intoxication.
Police said the pedestrian had no identification on him and have not released his name at this time.
