Narrative
NEAR LANDERS, CA – A Jeep Cherokee driver crossed the double yellow lines on Old Woman Springs Road and collided head-on with a Kia Optima, leading them to get hurt and claiming the lives of two people. This collision occurred after 8:30 a.m. Monday on Old Woman Springs Road (also known as State Road 247). The Jeep driver, a 39-year-old adult from Helendale, was seriously injured and sent to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment. The Kia driver — a 36-year-old man from Twentynine Palms — succumbed to fatal injuries at Hi-Desert Medical Center, and the passenger with him — a 33-year-old woman (also from Twentynine Palms) — was declared dead at the scene. The names of the victims have not been released at this time. The California Highway Patrol has launched an investigation. And although details are limited, they confirmed that impairment did not play a role in this crash.
