Narrative
A man and a young girl died in their Honda after it was hit by a truck on Highway 99 and caught on fire on Saturday, March 4th. At 3a.m., the Honda drove through a dead end and ended up on the southbound lanes of the highway. An incoming Dodge truck drove into the vehicle, which then caught on fire. The man initially escaped the fiery wreck but did have critical injuries. The 15 year-0ld girl was not able to escape from the vehicle. These two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. No information was given on the condition of the pickup truck driver. The Bakersfield Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and Kern County Coroner’s Office all assisted in working this case.
