One person died following a single-vehicle crash on I-880 in Oakland before 7:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12th. California Highway Patrol said the driver of Traffic Unit 1 lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree on the right shoulder. The man succumbed to fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
