Narrative

BARSTOW, CA – A driver of a 2002 Hyundai Sonata did not stop at a stop sign and struck a 65-year-old woman walking, leading her to succumb to fatal wounds Tuesday. 

This collision happened around 11:15 a.m. at the southbound Dickenson Avenue and Barstow Avenue junction. The impact led the SUV to overturn and land on its roof. The woman — Elida Fernandez from Fresno— died at the scene, while the driver — an unidentified 45-year-old man from Fresno — was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor wounds.
